Lisa, What version of Jaws are you using? I don't see that option in Jaws 8. When you go into forms mode, Jaws goes out of the virtual cursor and back to the normal PC cursor which allows you to edit the form field. I would leave that unchecked. As for the control shift D, this loads the default

With the cursor in the column you want to know about, press insert-f1-f1. That is, hold down insert---the Jawskey--and press f1 twice quickly. You will hear a ton of information in a virtual window, and the width of the cell will be a part of it. Press escape to escape the virtual window
