Hello Holger, If I was you I would try the check disk with the /R switch first. Reformatting might or might not make the drive work right. It really can't be diagnosed properly by Email. If you are not able to run the check disk with the /R switch from a command line then you can run it

If the document is a picture or image file, that would explain it. Otherwise, it depends on the conversion method you used. Persoanlly, I have access to adobe 9.1 or the Nuance PDF Converter. Sometimes, the same document will convert with one program and not the other. -Original

Hi, Sorry, to start off with bad news here. Most likely, the pdf is a scanned image or 'picture' of an original document. because it has been scanned, JAWS cannot read it. It is unlikely that it will convert to text via Adobe Reader. You probably need an OCR program to 'print' it or OCR
