Why is it unacceptable? If a simple keystroke can solve a real annoyance, I'm relieved. In fact, I use JAWS key+escape out of habit in all sorts of situations, such as where edit fields fail to be detected by JAWS in webpages. However, it does not solve this particular email problem.
