Hi Steve.
Just to make sure I'm understanding this, are you saying I must be sure I have
a PCI slot in my computer?
Thanks
Thanks for the headsup.

Hi Pete,
Could you please include prior messages
He's saying that you'd need an open slot in your pc in order to add a
usb3 card. You can use the new usb3 drives fine on usb2, but if you
want the extra speed, you'd have to add a card to get it.

Hi
External hard drives are much larger than thumb drives, you seldom see a
thumb drive over 128gb, but 3,000 gb external hard drives are available
for the same money. Get a usb3.0 drive, even if your computer is old,
you'll replace it eventually and the speed is nice.

Thanks Chris. I'm also wondering whether I can use a USB 3.0 external drive
on a machine which, to my knowledge, is still using USB 2.0.
If not, is there a way I can change mine to 3.0?

No, but you can install a usb 3 card in a desktop. I don't know about
xp, though, it may not even support usb3. It would all depend on the
driver you could find for the card, even 7 needed drivers.
