I am using a lexmark X2450. flatbed scanner .
i use it with open book and it was under $ 50. it also copies and prints.

Cannon scanners were recommended as the most compatible
I'm pretty satisfied with the Epson Perfection 4490 scanner I use with Open
Book 7.
