Re: [JAWS-Users] google sheets and setting columns and rows

2017-04-25 Thread Annette Carr
Hi Justin,

At this point I do not know the answer to your questions about reading
column and row names in Google Sheets. I am just starting out with using
it, and I'm finding navigation and command execution to be very
inconsistent. Do you have any tips? I read somewhere that Virtual Cursor
needs to be turned off. I use Insert+Z to toggle it on and off. Sometimes
I can accomplish things with it off and other times things work better when
it is on.

Do you have any idea how life is improved with the Google Sheets "screen
reader support" toggled on with the Control+Alt+z command?

I have successfully somehow gotten to a blank spreadsheet and entered in a
small bit of data. After that I have not been successful getting back into
the file, or much else.

Any help you can provide will be appreciated.

Annette

Hay guys, so one more time. Does anyone know how to set columns and rows
using google sheets? The method in excel doesn't seem to work.

I'm do some more experiments with google sheets, but I'm looking for a way
to know which column and row title my cursor is in in without having to go
up 40 rows to fine it. Failing that, is there a keystroke to tell me what
column or row I'm in?

Miriam, you can access the following page to get separate 7 day forecasts
for each borough/county in the metro NYC area, including separate

forecasts

for northern and southern Nassau County (Westbury would probably be
considered southern Nassau, right?). Just do a JAWS search for "nassau"

and

then create a place marker at that point for easy access, and then save

this

page on your favorites list.

You could also try the less slick manual license code option.
where you go to fs-activate.com and give it your authorization number, thence
to your locking code, and then the site will give you a license code. With
that, you can authorize your software without going online.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Microsoft Excel Column Headings

2017-04-25 Thread Mike O'Brien
Hi

In earlier versions of JAWS when you were positioned at a certain cell there
were keystrokes to read the cell in rows 1 through 5 of the same column and
there were keystrokes to read the cell in columns 1 through 5 of the same
row. But in Excel 2010, which I am using, the functions to do the reading
of a specific column or row are still there, but know keystroke has been
assigned by Freedom Scientific. So I created keystroke assignments for
these functions and they work fine. The default script source for Excel in
JAWS 18 states that it is for Excel 2013 and higher.

So below are the key assignments I used for these functions. Copy these key
assignments and paste them into a file. Make sure the file is named
excel.jkm. Move this file into your JAWS user settings folder, assuming
that there is not already a file there with the same name. If there is
already a file with that name, then these keystrokes must be put in to that
file.

[Common Keys]
control+Alt+1=ColumnFirstCellFromTop
control+Alt+2=ColumnSecondCellFromTop
control+Alt+3=ColumnThirdCellFromTop
control+Alt+4=ColumnFourthCellFromTop
control+Shift+1=RowFirstCellFromLeft
control+Shift+2=RowSecondCellFromLeft
control+Shift+3=RowThirdCellFromLeft
control+Shift+4=RowFourthCellFromLeft

The column header name is the one that I would like to read so if I am

Webroot causes lots of problems with assistive technology. their are various
people who have posted about it making something wrong with System Access, on
the users forum for that product, and it doesn't surprize me that Webroot
effects JAWS authorization. everybody who replyed to posts on the subject, say

Re: [JAWS-Users] Microsoft Excel Column Headings

2017-04-25 Thread Andrew James Bontrager
Hey Steven,
I did some more digging in the Jaws Keyboard manager. Just to get the record
straight, I use Jaws version 9.0 and Microsoft Excel and Word 2003. So maybe
these keystrokes aren't available in the newer versions.
In the Microsoft Excel JKM file, there is a neat little keystroke called Say
Column Title. Alt plus shift plus C.
but in the Microsoft Word JKM file the keystroke is alt plus jaws key plus
shift plus C.
now the strange part. When I tried it in Excel, it wouldn't give me the column
title. But when I did an Alt 1, I heard it loud and clear.
that's just how things are sometimes.

For anyone who has been missing a good, Jaws accessible weather site, the
braille.wunderground.com site is working again with the 10 day forecasts.

Re: [JAWS-Users] Microsoft Excel Column Headings

2017-04-25 Thread HICKS, Steven (ROYAL CORNWALL HOSPITALS NHS TRUST)
No, I just want a quick key that will read the cell header at the top of the
column if that makes any sense e.g. the list below:

Name:
Steve
Bob
Paul

The column header name is the one that I would like to read so if I am moving
across the sheet I can always quickly use a key to check the column heading if
that makes any sense?

Hello,
I looked in the default Jaws Keyboard manager, and there are already keystrokes
available to read current Column and Read Current Row.

Is this not what you're looking for?
