I'm now unable to reproduce the problem -- which is fine by me. Kubuntu did
install more new KDE packages the day after I had these problems, so that may
have solved it.

Its a day later and the flickering has stopped. In fact, all of Kontact seems a

I've realized that I attached a bad example email. Other mail clients treat it
