I use very long hat pins with my spangled bobbins. I run the pin
through the spangles and stick it, upright, into the pillow. Twelve
pairs fit on one pin and because they're stored upright, they take
very little room on the pillow.

When I have trouble with the half hitches 'leaping' off the bobbin, I
cut lengths of drinking straws and slit them lengthwise. Then I
slip a straw over the thread and half hitch on each bobbin.

Clay's favourite system but it didn't seem to work with the

That's really interesting - I went the opposite way and I sold all my
Continental bobbins. But if I had to start over, I'd use the square
bobbins. Not as pretty as the spangled ones, but they have the
advantage of not rolling and being easier to make sewings with.

Insect pins are very, very thin, with tiny heads. They're useful
when you're making a very fine lace that requires lots of pins. But
they bend very easily.

This is impossible, if you ask me, but they can do it. The left side,

of the better restaurants in Halifax for the price of this
one. So I've arranged to meet some Canadian lacemakers for our own
'banquet'.
I'm trying to arrange a Canadian get-together during the Congress,

A friend of mine has just inherited 60 hankies and about 20 of them
have very beautiful lace and/or embroidery. Does anyone have
suggestions about how she could use or display them? (Besides their
original purpose, that is :D )

I too have made it, using the same thread as Bev. For the 'c' row,
the worker pair from the left works into the centre and is left
there. Then starting from the right, I worked CTCTpinCTCT right
across the row.
