Talking about glue, darning and knots! The square that I did recently I did a
'sewing' to join the pieces together at the end. Was that the right thing to
do or should I have done something different? I then did a couple of knots to
be on the safe side. How close could I have then cut the
Hello Bev,
So you have to darn the ends in as well as do a sewing? Ooops! Oh well never
mind it is my first attempt at a square so I guess that is ok. I am preparing
to start another square so maybe that one will go better. There are 35 pairs.
Is there a quick way of loading the bobbins. I
HI
I am not sure how long I have been on the list. Maybe a year or a little
longer but not by much. I started off learning lace from a book and then
eventually found a night class in bobbin lace which has helped me
tremendously. I was in a Yahoo Freecycle group and decided to do a search for
I have been reading these stories about teachers and students and now
designing! How do you even begin to design? Or is this something you think
about when you have more experience? I have a good teacher/class but
unfortunately these are only evening classes so in the summer I have nothing.

You may remember a while back that I asked for help in starting a square, my
first project on my own without a book or a teacher? I am now pleased to know
that what I have done so far (almost finished) has been fudged and wangled
(didnt know the name for this!). Still as someone else said - it
As a relatively newcomer to lace I have been buying lace books as and when I
can afford it. I have at the moment The Book of Bobbin Lace Stitches by Cook

just noticed another one called Introduction to Bobbin Lace
I have to cover my lace with cloths and pins and then cover the cloth and
pins with another cloth otherwise my cat is off with the pins also!

I have just bought a pattern called Incy Wincy Spider. I bought it because it
was advertised as being ideal for a first big project and thought it was a
good idea. On getting the pattern I am only shown where to put the first two
pairs of bobbins (there are 34 pairs altogether) and I am to add

I have the same problem as Sister Claire. I am only 4ft 10 and a half. I
manage well at home as I have an adjustable stand for my pillow but when I
go to my evening class is another thing altogether.
It is in a school and we use the desk and chairs. Even with a table stand I

I have to agree with Sister Claire on this. The subject was the history of
lace and not the Church.

Hi Brenda,
Thank you for the patterns they all look good. Can you help a beginner out
like me and tell me how many pairs of bobbins they take and where to start
them?
Thanks again
