Tamara,
Thanks for the quick and full of information, response. I will look into
purchasing the Nobecourt book. I do hate to spend quite so much on postage on
a book I can only use for a couple of weeks. I found earlier, the same
situation while checking into renting books on tape and getting
Does anyone know if there really is an English translation for the
Tonderkniplinger 2 book by Inge Skovgaard? I'm getting contradictory
answers from UK suppliers.

Is anyone else in London still waiting for their copy of the latest Lace
magazine? I seem to have received everything else that got caught up in the
post strike, but not this.

Hi Lacers,
I am back safe and sound from my trip to the UK. I enjoyed meeting all the lovely
lace ladies at the Havant lace fair including Jean Peach, Milada, Sheila, et al. Spent
waaay too much!! I know it was crushed around the tables but I did not see any square
bobbins, even though some

Oh, I can't agree with you, Robin, that Christine Springett's spangles are
loose and floppy. I have dozens of her bobbins, and they are perfect. If
there were anything the matter with them (and there isn't), it would only
be that we amateur
Hi Spiders,
I thought someone might be interested in this and there's only an hour and
half left and no bids.

If spangles 'flipping' bother you, please don't try spangles made with
fishing line.
Or have bird-cage spangles where a large bead sits in a four-strand cage
made from tiny beads.
There's an example of one on Lori's Lace Fairy web site, but it looks like
the cage there is only three strands.
Thank you Avital for the prompt response and sending the wayward digest. Isn't it
great to have someone in charge of things and on the ball. Thanks for all you do for

Oh yes, Alice - you're so right! She has her custom-made
T-squares which work for everything she does! But what
she hasn't said (at least in a long while) is that she also
has a full array of spangled Midlands bobbins, which she
used when she first started making lace... until she

I am in the process of planning a workshop this summer with Yvonne
Scheele-Kerkhof following her sessions at IOLI. Yvonne has agreed to teach
Withof and Beds. No previous experience with either lace is necessary. Dates
will be August 9, 10, and 11. I've secured a wonderful facility in Dublin,

Hi, all,
Just a note about missing digests. I do save digests (except for the
occasional one that gets deleted accidentally) and burn them onto CDs as
part of my monthly backup. If you ever need a digest, don't hesitate to ask.
The other note is about subscription help (unsubbing, changing

I am lucky anyway! I have a new Italian friend, who has send me a

I love to get a massage from my cat, Molly, a calico, but not at 5:00 am, on my

Some years ago I purchased a pair of square bobbins for my secret pal of the

Winslow bobbins, I think. They said they had started producing them because of

Hi,
I'd like to thank my secret pal for the packet of gifts this
month. Unfortunately I'm having to fight with my children as to who gets
to use them - they like the pen and the watch as much as I do. The
chocolates were great and the notepad is already getting used. I write a

About two years ago, I had a serious illness from what turned out to be a
throat infection -- an exuberant overgrowth of the normal flora. It was not
found early despite 2 trips to the MD and 1 to the ER. It was three weeks
after the ER visit that I was finally able to get in to see the ENT
I'm positive I've heard this one before, just with a different cast of
characters (I seem to remember queen Victoria?). However, The Visit (so
well-discussed on chat g) makes it timely again, so... :) BTW, I
wonder if horse-drawn carriages have to pay the congestion fee in
London, or is it
