wooden body found through Lee Valley tools. The lace is a rectangle, with

I have wondered about that too - and now use the bobbins with lighter spangles on
finer thread eg finer than
Brok 100, and the Springetts'/ Fountain's ones on anything thicker than that. I have
used the Springett's
ones on finer threads too and the lace is good - but definitely tighter tension

here here...I love Waterlily and HATE corners. They never did corners in the
old days. I don't see a need to now.
Pamela Nottingham's book The Technique of Bucks Point Lace has a chapter devoted to
'Fine Old Bucks Point
Patterns'. This chapter includes many examples of corners in Bucks point,

In the summer I discovered book covering vinyl in Walgreen's, in the back to school
section. (It is made by
Kittrich). I have been using it on the patterns for the group I teach at the local
school and it seems to work
as well as the blue film. It cost me about $3 for a pack of four rolls each
I don't have a pillow out at present. (Yes, I know that's unusual! But I'm busy
drawing designs for a silk
screen workshop I'm going to attend on Tuesday; learning how to use the serger I was
given for Christmas; and

Another idea that I had for the Lace guild competition was a Medusa, with
snakes for hair, but mine would have been in greens and yellows and had a
mirror where the face should be, rather than the mask. This continues to
show how similar ideas can be when we are working on a common theme

I seem to have a different problem, that of the lace moving up the
pins when I do Bucks point. My pricking stays flat (working on a 24
cookie pillow currently), but the lace has lifted maybe 4-5
millimeters (a bit less than 1/4 inch) off the surface of the
pricking. I do place the edge pins
for advice before purchasing it.

No, I've not received a bobbin for the pattern in Lace 114 yet. I'd
forgotten all about it. The bobbins the Lace Guild give for putting patterns
in the magazine are wonderful, and they are the best I have for holding the
hitch. I love them, and will look forward to seeing another in due course.
Jenny Hester (who does the lettering and sparkles on the bobbins) saw my
posting to the lace list about Lace Magazine bobbins, and confirms that
her son Matthew made them and posted them to the Guild in mid-July, but they
