My opinion, and I haven't used multimedia but plan on it eventually, is to
keep my multimedia on the USB drive, AND at least occasionally keep another
back-up in another place like my hard drives and or 500 gig back-up drive!

You might consider creating user ids that include an indicator of whether the
person is on your side of the family or your husband's. Maybe the person's
RIN prefixed by an initial?

Open Legacy, and open your sample file.
Click on the Index View tab.
Almost at the top right corner is a button labeled: OPTIONS. Click it.
Look for the Tags. I use four. Tag 1 in my paternal grandfather's
family. Tag 2 is my paternal grandmother's family.

listings for US cities when the city remains the same, but the county
changes.
For example - Attica, New York. Prior to 1841, Attica was in Genesee County
and after it was in Wyoming County. I've noted the boundary
