Cathy,
Your suggestion about purging the Master To-Do lists solved what
for me has been a long-standing problem, namely file backup had been
stalling on a certain to-do item. As I don't use the To-Do list I
followed advice from Support and exported the entire file to a new
file but in so

certificate to-dos will stay together when the list is sorted in
alphabetical order. What is the 'HI' for?

I structure my to-do list items in a similar fashion to how you do it -
i.e. Find John Smith's birth certificate. Then I put the to-do item
under the repository that I want to search first - i.e. 'findmypast.com'
or whatever. If a search of the repository comes up negative, I note

as before this I once ordered the same marriage certificate twice.

I have so cluttered and fouled my To Do List that it
has been useless. A lot of what I did was before I
knew much about Legacy, or genealogy for that matter.
Now I would like to purge the entire To Do list and
try again. How would one do this?

Hi Nick,
To delete To Dos
You can go to the To Dos from the icon on the Toolbar or View To Do List
Make sure the Drop down box at the top has All To Dos showing rather
than just General To Dos or Individual To dos.
Highlight a To Do in the list - then Options - Delete etc. You don't
appear
Cathy,
Thanks. As I feared there is no simple way. I'll try
your process but if it is too time consuming I may
abandon the To Do process and do something else,
possibly use paper!!

Thanks to everyone for your very useful tips on formatting the Legacy To-Do
List. Kate's suggestion for building the list through Research Guidance is
a route that I hadn't tried before, but preliminary experiments look very
promising. Now all that's needed is the self-control to create and

I leave off all verbs. (they are implied anyway).
BC = birth Certificate.
MC = marriage certificate
I include more details in the task description.

I originally had a very goal-oriented To-Do List in Legacy (i.e. Find John
Jones' parents). That helped to focus on top priorities but ultimately
didn't suit. Then I switched to a task-oriented format (i.e. Order Mary
Cooper's probate record). That was OK for a while. Now I'm finding that
at a few years ago, but
might help going forward.
