Thanks Ron.
I would like to give the Access method a try. I have the program, but would
need instructions, off list probably, if you or anyone else would like to tell
me how.

Unlike some, I do not have a Census Event, but everybody on the census
record does have a Residence Event (although I do not include non-family
members, except in unusual circumstances!). I attach the census image to the
Source for this Event, and hence everyone named has the image path
I’m sorry Jennifer, but I cannot help you with this, as I do not use Access. I
use OpenOffice.org Base, and the SQL, and commands, are not the same as for
Access.
Hopefully someone with Access knowledge can write the SQL script, and and send
it to you (with instructions) as you requested.

Are you saying baptisms are now some sort of non-primary event/fact
other than the normal Christening/Baptism?
And you want to transfer the date location to the Birth Event? or
the primary Christening/Baptism?

That's interesting, I never thought of it that way. I usually attach the census
image in the Detail section, but I see it can be attached to the master source.
I also set up the census sources by county.

Legacy User Group guidelines:
Your custom colours, if you have saved them, are in the
c:\Legacy\Colorschemes folder.
When you saved them you should have given them a unique name so look for
the .lcs file with that name and copy it to your other machine.

Rita,
You need to Save your settings in OptionsCustomiseColours - I am not sure
where the default is, as I have changed mine, but it is in the Legacy folder.
Make a note of it and copy over to the same place in your new machine.

And keep in mind that unlinked people are not a problem - I add them
as unlinked and copy the census information. Later as sometimes
happens (when there is a marriage) you can link them!

I have not attached any census images, (in fact, I don't even download any
census images); I only transcribe the census and attach the full transcription
as a source to each person listed on the census. On the SourceWriter field that
asks for ID of individual I put John Doe household.
I do,

I always attached the image of every source to the Source Detail, largely
because when I get a piece of new information which seems to conflict with
my record I can easily, and quickly, refer back to the original image(s)
from which I drew my conclusions.

Yes, if you attach / link the images to the detail citations, then the images
are out there with the individuals, not in the source master list. Just a
consideration. I mean, I also have a naming convention for the images
themselves that keeps counties together on the hard drive, so I could just

Yes, Richard, the event is a non-primary event. I want to transfer the date and

Basically an Event/Fact is something that happened to an individual, or fact
relating to an individual eg. you may consider the place where a person
lived as a Fact, but the act of moving in as an Event.

I'm full of questions tonight. Sometimes on a census image I notice another
family with a familiar name. There may or may not be a relationship. If I enter

Well, more clean up ahead. I've been using just the census year and country as
my source and putting the county information in the detail. I can see why it
would be good to keep the counties together in the sources. Families living in
the same area can be easily gathered together in a report.
Oh, Thank you, Ron! That will save me a lot of work. So much to learn...
