That's fine, as long as you can get online when you need to access your
backup.
It may not be your genealogy that you want to access, but other
important pieces of information, so don't just think in terms of your
genealogy files.
I recommend something that you can access directly, such as an

Unless you've told Legacy to store it somewhere else, as I have.

Well, that should be changed (and it's easy on the backup screen) or
you're in danger of losing them all if your computer crashes. I send my
backup files to a folder of their own inside My Documents. All of My
Documents is backed up to an external hard-drive daily.

Ron, I was just punctuating the point for anyone who hasn't looked at
that closely. Some people might not have noticed that the default
setting could get them in trouble. It wasn't directed at you personally.

That is the Legacy Default which I though was the question I was answering.
If, however, you are asking where I have my back-ups, then in addition to the
default I have copies on my brother-in-law's PC, the cloud and an external
home could wipe out all copies.

Since this conversation has turned to disaster now, how can paper
storage be considered 'safe'? Paper burns. Paper rots. Paper turns to
mush if you add enough water. Ink fades. Perhaps as genealogists we're
overly concerned with forever.

If you have turned off the backup reminder, we recommend that you
reset your Legacy options to automatically prompt for backups each
time you exit the program. Here's how:
1. Click Options on the menu bar and select Customize from the options menu.
To turn it off you must a) know that it exists and b) know where/how to do it.

I'm pretty sure I turned it off so I wouldn't be bugged by it. Since I
