Why doesn't Legacy allow pictures to be sorted by date or caption within a
picture gallery? All pictures seem to display in a slide show or printed
Photo Album even if just a few are tagged (check box.)
What topic in the Help file or printed Legacy 6 manual explains Picture

Connie,
Suppose a distant cousin is interested in 1/8 or less of your collection of

all pictures, how does another researcher copy the right pictures with

I want to add photos and documents to my Legacy File. Since reading this

I'm another Generations refuge, and I switched only reluctantly. However,
despite missing some features (esp the ability to search all fields at
once of all sources to help find one whose name I cannot remember, and the
ability to see Notes in the Family view), I would never switch back.

As far as I know, the terms folder and directory are synonymous.

I occasionally export some of my Legacy records to a Gedcom so I can
open them in Family Tree Maker and print what I think of as a standard
family tree.
I recently discovered, via this excellent group, that Legacy will accept

FTM does not recognize those style dates.
Legacy itself only added them recently at the request of those users who
use the British BMD indexes where entries are listed by Calendar Quarter

You could redirect the My Documents to any folder you want couldn't you?
That way it keeps it out of the way of the OS (in case of re-install as you

Documents. Then when you re-install you'd only have to redirect My

I could not disagree more with Chris Squires' assessment that Geo-location

I spent the last day or two cleaning up my locations in Legacy. I had

I, too, am very thankful for the Geo-Location feature. Among other

About GEO, I simply adore it. True, it is not for everyone, but the
programmers *tried* (I think they succeeded!) in making GEO so flexible it
would fit anyone's preference for formatting. That is the good thing about
Legacy- it lets you keep your information the way you want to.

I never see an opinion to my wish. In next update Legacy should add TREES

Did not like it. I would gladly pay more for Legacy if they

Well, Arnie, I must confess that I, too, have recently resorted to using

Hi Diane,
As Elizabeth mentioned in an earlier post on photos, if you ever want
to copy your photos and scanned docs and send them to someone who
shares only one line with you, it might be easier if you have filed
these images by Surname, rather than by type.
I personally have my folders in

Hi Elizabeth,
It's easy to separate the photos you need for a particular part of the tree.
Once you've separated the part of the tree you wish to send, open it

This may create an enormous zip file, but it will put all the

For the most interesting FTM trees, you really need to keep a separate file
