Your spreadsheet example works unless the person went by their middle
name and that's the only name you have for them and you don't know
whether you're dealing with a person's first or middle names. I
guess, if you were sure that John in your example was really the first
name, you could come up
I was asked to demo how to make a list of names in the family file, and from
that list, take out everyone with a first name, known *full* middle name,
and last name. That is, the names that remain would be of those without a
middle name and/or only the middle initial is known. In Legacy, I don't

identify those remaining names where there really is
only a middle initial, or no middle name at all, as
opposed to people with missing parts to their name?
That might prevent additional work if he or she runs
