Thanks for all the ideas on searching the Master Source. I start each source with the word Source, i.e., Source 1, Source 2, etc. so that if I want to go back to the copy of the source to confirm the information or to make a copy of the source for someone who has requested it. How do the rest

Hi Ruth, Put the Number you have in your file in the File ID slot rather than the Source Name - then you can still easily go from Legacy to your 3 ring binders. I'm more specific and have my originals numbered with type and a number - eg: Birth001, Ship(ping List)001, Obituary001 etc Cathy

I have followed the same basic procedure Bob has discussed below. One helpful addition I have made is to start all the place name sources with an @ symbol so that they do not co-mingle with surnames. I also use a dot (.) in front of the IGI, SSDI, etc type entries to ensure that they sort to

I use only two types of names for a Source List Name - either a place name or a surname. Like Dave, my place names start with a state/province, then county, then city, then type of record - or surname, then given name, then type of record. I try to duplicate the order and headings of the LDS
