Canadian census reports 1851-1911. Where do I input this info? I started by
pasting the household under Master Source notes with the 'Head' showing
everyone in the household and then each individual gets a single line under

When the enumerator has made errors, most commonly in spelling the surname,
or when you are getting the info online where the transcriber has made
errors in interpreting the handwriting, do you copy into Legacy what is
actually there or what should have been there - the correct spelling? My

My Volume 1 training videos have just arrived and I have completed disc 2.
Problem: using the Master Location list I started correcting some of my
inconsistent entries. I edited and saved. When I got back to the family
screen I happened to be on my father's where I noticed on his birth/location
I am trying to create the location database file. On step 1: create an empty
database file by clicking 'Create,' that button is not active to allow me to
click on it. I have installed and unlocked the deluxe 7 version. What's
wrong?

Am I the only one who is lost? I am new to Legacy. I started my genealogy
search back in 1982 - pre-Cambrian era. I am now trying to enter my data
into Legacy. I joined this list in the hope it would help me but to be
honest most of what you discuss here is so far over my head I can't even
follow
Hi Judy,
10 days ago I sent out an SOS to the list - 'Lost and needing help'
I am new to internet genealogy and totally new to working with any genealogy
software.
It has taken me this long to figure it out but I had to take a mental break
from the frustration. The good news is that I now can
Another newbie question:
I have just linked onto Ancestry.ca for my first 14-day trial. Is there an
easy way to download the data there directly into my legacy tree? I spent
hours entering and sourcing 3 marriages and I have piles to do. Then in
frustration I created a mini tree on Ancestry
SORRY about the HTML. I have a rule set for outgoing mail to the list but
somehow it didn't work!! I guess I need to turn off all HTML permanently.

Be very careful:-)
Thanks for the warning. No I always go right to the original documents -
birth, marriage etc. I have already had the experience of someone else
taking my research and plugging it into their tree where there is no
evidence to indicate we are linked at
1. I went through all the steps and created a GEDCOM to export to Ancestry.
How do I know that step was completed successfully? Can I check the created

2. I went into Ancestry to import, read all the 'how to's' but I can't
figure it out.

The problem is Jenny; I was trying to find the connection between Canada and

Bill, thanks for the comments but can you translate into simple stupid for
me.
I would like to get the data off Ancestry as simply as possible for me. I am
a two-finger typist, struggling with sourcing, clipboards etc. It literally
can take me a day to enter a handful of Marriage registrations. I
I believe that I was the initial poster who started the contested thread
that generated this post. According to the guidelines: I am a new user of
Legacy (paid deluxe plus learning tapes) and I was seeking help with respect

I have set my direct line and my relationships starting with myself. All was
working well but I just entered a new branch and after the 'second cousin
once removed,' all relationships are blank. The next person should be my
third cousin. What's wrong?
