We are beginning to look at the installation process for SLES10 and have a
question. Our current zVM Linux strategy is to use VSWITCH and we run VLAN
enabled SLES8 and SLES9 guests thru VLAN and a VLAN trunk enabled Cisco Switch.
In the past we have downloaded the SLES boot files to VM, IPL'd
If the virtual NIC definition in the CP directory includes the correct
VLAN specification and is defined as an access port on the VSWITCH, the
installation system shouldn't know (or care) that VLANs are present.
Your old method should work fine. A refinement that might be handy if

Nilson,
I am aware of an already solved problem shown in qeth_qdio_input_handler().
It can occur if your Linux is running under zVM 5.2 and the QEBSM-support

If this applies to your system, then please check if APAR VM63838 / PTF

Has anyone out there bought one of the new Mac Pros? If so, have you turned it
into a multi-boot (or maybe Xen-based multi-OS) system? Anybody?

You will have to wait a few weeks for this, because the machine was launched

I haven't done either, but there is a virtualization product out for

Were I to replace it today, I'd replace it with the Intel iMac.

Anyways, you could always dual-boot Mac OS X and Linux and then put virtual
Linux guests under Xen. Or install VMWare Server and put Windows guests
under the Linux. That way you have access to both worlds.
Mac OS X is a nice toy!
By the way, I would be very happy to have a Mac Pro...

I've got one, it can dual boot into either Windows XP (only use it this

Lee, I *think* DHCP needs to be able use/access the layer 2 (maybe layer
3) facilities of the VSWITCH, which means that it needs to be
TYPE=ETHERNET.
I'm sure Dr Boyes can explain it much better than I

This doesn't seem very lively either, so not much for those of us who
prefer Linux:
Jim,
Your vipa should be registered to your NIC to be able to receive packets
(unless you set up a layer 2 vswitch), you can check that using:
$ hcp q nic details( being the address of your eth0 or eth1
virtual NIC)
If it does not show your vipa, you can set it manually using:
