When doing ifconfig -a on my Redhat 7.2 linux running under VM I get errors on TX
packets of my IUCV. Could my mtu size between my Linux and VM cause this (Linux MTU
=9216 and VM = 8188)

I had this same problem after downloading the 1800 odd rpm files from RedHat and doing
an ftp install. I was able to resolve the problem by getting a set of CDs from RedHat,
copying the files from them to the PC I use as an ftp server, and doing the install
again.
I was also able to complete
I find this to be extremely interesting. It's a bit off topic, but very
relevant to my company.

Michael,
I would recommend re-downloading those 6 files. You should be able to an
rpm -K command against them to make sure they're correct this time.
You'll see something like this:
$ rpm -K z*
zebra-0.91a-6.s390.rpm: md5 GPG NOT OK
zip-2.3-10.s390.rpm: md5 GPG NOT OK
zlib-1.1.3-24.s390.rpm:

I agree that this would be a good idea. I was just trying to keep it simple
for people who were concerned about accidental corruption. One step at a
time. :)

Moloko,
Yes, an MTU mismatch can cause all sorts of strange problems. You really
need to have them match correctly.

I had the same problem. When I looked at the log files, several messages
stated that we ran out of free anonymous ftp time for the day. Don't
know if you are having the same problem but you should check the log files.
I tried a mirror site but got one that didn't have all the RPMs. :-(

If you have a service contract with SuSE, they should be able to tell you.
If you don't have a service contract, you can't get it.

Also, does anybody have a Web application running on
Linux/390 which uses
CGI to get data from the z/OS side of the house? Especially
communicating
with a CICS region.
Yes. Our CICS guy wrote a COBOL/CICS CGI app that reads, modifies and
displays data from a VSAM file. Pretty cool stuff
