What is the recommendation or general practice regarding hipersocket
addresses and dns?
Do you register the hipersocket address in the dns or stick with
referencing it via the octet?
Thanks

I generally use /etc/hosts to set a name, and refer to the name.
It's easier to change a single entry on /etc/hosts than changing lots of
config files in all applications.
Using DNS increases latency, complication, and as long as you have only a
dozen or more machines, handling the hosts file
DITTO.

Frank,
When you had the Linux VM 3270 console up, how did you get out of the
console session?
Did you #cp disc?
Did you just close the emulator?

I usually issue a '#CP DISC', but I may have had it up (over the
weekend). It appears that we had some network issues over the weekend
because all of my other 3270 sessions were disconnected.

We're supposed to have every IP address in our DNS. And to get in to DNS, you
go through security planning.
Your company may have a different policy.

If the file names are uppercased on z/OS, Linux will retain that.
You'll probably have to run a script to lower-case the names (if
desired).
