Yep. Knoppix runs directly off the CD, its known as a Live CD. You don't
need to have a working (or any) linux on the system that you demo it on.

software is getting expensive. What with the books I've bought, and the set
of Debian disks yet to be tackled I could have bought myself WinXP by now

I have just installed Debian woody. So far it is working well.
I booted from the boot floppies with the compact kernel, then installed from

Now when I try to setup my sound card, the modules aren't there.
Can someone tell me how I go about installing all the extra modules?
