I am a new user of LyX and I'm confused about something: the User's Manual
is formatted as scrbook, but when I go to the DocumentSettings window, LyX
says scrbook (as well as most of the other layouts) is unavailable. I'm
confused about this, since it appears that the scrbook.layout file is in

Thanks for your help. It appears I have some of the class files, but I am
missing many of the other classes. I seem to have many layout files without
corresponding class files. Still, some of the class files I have don't
appear to work. Do they all need to be in a

That's (at least potentially) normal. LyX ships with layouts for a
number of classes that have

computer and it didn't have stdtheorem.inc and it still works!!! I
actually followed the instructions in this link to make the
articletheorem.layout file

I installed the windows version of the LyX 1.4.0 from
http://wiki.lyx.org/uploads/Windows/LyX140pre/lyx-1.4.0pre_win32_setup_v
2.exe
and am running into some trouble. I had a few layouts which I had
customized for myself. Now Lyx is no longer recognizing those. The error
