Just a quick update here. I found (accidentially) that the problem
was the eps file. After some googling, I have found that ghostview
creates postscript files which look much better.

solutions I knew, my point was to suggest making the default
behaviour for the windows version of LyX "reasonable" without
the need to tweak the system and to scan the FAQs.
