Ok, a little more digging lead me to this: If there is text in the table float (but outside of the table) that is wide enough to wrap lines, the table won't scroll horizontally. I'm attaching an example. As for the crash when changing preferences: It happened twice toggling the same box, but I

With 2.2 rc1, horizontal scrolling doesn't seem to work (at least on my installation of OS X 10.11.4) with wide tables that are contained in table floats, making it impossible to edit columns past the window boundary. Is there a setting/workaround for this? Also, while investigating this, I went

Renaming Abstract to Summary

According to the LyX wiki and other sources I can use \renamecommand{\abstractname}{Summary} without an \addto if I remove (or deactivate) the babel package. The document class is KOMA-script Report. Under Tools -> Preferences -> Language Settings -> Language I changed 'Default' to
