are you certain that the VNC problem you are experiencing is causing the
802.11 to be dropped? I also use VNC and experience the problem of the
left hand side of the virtual screen not responding to mouse clicks. I
am using Tightvnc as the VNC client running on Windows XP SP2.

here is an interesting data point regarding the use of VNC and the
non-response to taps on the left side of the screen image. If I use the
N800, under the control of a VNC (Tightvnc) client to connect to a
Windows System using the N800 Rdesktop (RDP) client, then I my taps on
the left

clicks don't register for application button and so forth. I
believe it's because of the special behavior introduced to allow
thumb/finger navigation; there's got to be a lower-level interface to
tslib vs the normal xinput

Yes, I see the same things on my N800. However, WLAN idle time was already

desktop machine can save VNC sessions to a file, and convert them to AVI,
which is much more powerful for end users than simple screenshots. I'm
