I want to create a smart mailbox that (among other criteria) only
contains unread messages. I perused all of the criteria but with the
exception of possibly #Is-New-Message (which I couldn't find any docs

Any advice on how to create a smart mailbox that contains only

Max,
If you right click on a folder, the Displayed Count can be set to
Unread.
sorry- i dont mean the unread count - I mean being able to be in any folder
(wether an mailbox or smartfolder) and have

Thanks,

If you set up the smart mailbox for unread (anywhere) then click on that
smart mailbox,
Thanks to everyone that replied! I didn't realize this was implemented
as an IMAP keyword/tag.
