Hi,
It's hard to understand what you're trying to do as what you say does
not really make sense.
Working with Oracle DB is pretty straight forward.
1 - Create a feature source and select the Oracle Provider
2 - Enter the connection parameters
3 - Save
That's done.
When you want to use data
I don't intend to move data from one server to another. I shouldn't have to,
if there is an Oracle DB that have spatial table right? I can just let any
MapGuide Server access the Oracle DB, read the spatial table and
serve/publish that spatial table as an layers/maps/etcs.
So really there
Say you have a DEV MapGuide Server and a PROD MapGuide Server, you can author
up all your layers/maps/etc on the DEV instance, create a mgp package that
you can the load into the PROD instance and have all your
data/layers/maps/etc in there without having to repeat all this work.
So an .mgp
Is it a requirement to create a .mgp pakage from feature source oracle?
My plan workflow is to connect to Oracle--> choose a spatial table and
create a vector layer definition from the Oracle database --> once I have
the layer then I should able to use that layer to create a web map
application
