As an aside, while we do want very badly to establish our own brand,
we also want to (as much as possible) be affiliated with 'linux
desktop'- the reality is that no one goes around googling for 'gnome'
(unless they want tiny men in hats), and lots of people have interest
in the 'linux desktop', so we need to capitalize on that and make
google love us on that phrase.

You are down to 108 words compared to Daves 116, big improvement!
If we could cut it down further it would be a good thing. Could perhaps 
cut the like many others-phrase. That would give us 105 words and make 
make the text more straight forward (it cuts away the commas).

What do you think people?

don't like the phrase in general. I prefer something like

Yeah, GNOME runs on BSD and Solaris aswell and it would be stupid to 
downgrade the importance of those communities. I mostly put it there 
because I thought it would be nice to have the strong linux brand to 
appeal to people with. Your idea of extending the brand is nice and I 
don't want to conflict with that idea in any way.

In need for some text for a poster

After chatting a bit with sri and claus over IRC the other day about 
GNOME-posters for conferences, I felt that it would be nice to have a 
bit more material for everything from the local LUG to a the GNOME booth 
at big software shows to use.
