MARINEMAMMAL BOOKS AND REPRINTS SOUGHT

¡VIVAVaquita! (a non-profit organization) is seeking marinemammal books,
reprints, monographs, and journals. Literature can be donated or we can
purchasesets of books, reprints, and journals. We compile and then make the
literature available to colleagues workingon marine mammals, getting it into
hands where it will be actively used, and inthe process help to raise funds for
research and conservation work on thevaquita (Phocoena sinus), the World’smost
endangered marine mammal species. Donations are tax-deductible, and we maybe
able to arrange pick-up of large libraries (and possibly even to providesome
payment for more valuable items).

As you may haveheard, the global population of this species now numbers 100
individualsand is decling at about 19%/year. We arecurrently collecting
literature as part of our efforts to help fund oureducation and public
awareness work, in a last-ditch effort to avoid theextinction of this species
in the next couple of years! Visit our website at www.vivavaquita.orgfor more
details. If you have any marinemammal literature you would be interested in
donating or ‘selling’ to us,please contact Tom Jefferson at sclym...@aol.com.

[MARMAM] Fwd: Urgent call for support for stranded pup monk seal

2014-12-10 Thread Androniki Pardalou (MOm)
Dear friends and colleagues,

As you may already be aware of MOm
/Hellenic Society for the Study and Protection of the Monk Seal
has been treating a newborn monk seal, found in great need since last
month (press release http://www.mom.gr/displayITM1.asp?ITMID=722LANG=EN
).

The pup was named Andriana, and was found orphaned and in a poor state, at
Skopelos' Velanio beach (Greece) on November 15th by a local resident.
Immediately she was transported to MOm's Mediterranean Monk Seal First Aid
Station at Spata Attica. The initial veterinary examinations showed that
the pup was in critical condition, dehydrated, malnourished and exhibiting
symptoms of respiratory infection. Andriana is one of the youngest and most
weakened monk seal pups that has ever been admitted to MOm's Rehabilitation
Programme. *Her treatment aims at releasing her healthy back to her natural
environment, after its completion in approximately five months*.

*I am communicating with you seeking your financial contribution, and your
support to our cause by forwarding this urgent call for help through your
communication networks and contacts*.

MOm is in great need of your help in order to continue Andriana's
treatment. You may find all relevant information on how to contribute here
