But it's totally irrelevant. Does anybody really believe that the government forces are stopping at carrying out cold blooded murder of proven Daesh fighters? Really? In this day and age when sectarianism and communalism are raging through every single part of the world? Once something like this gets started, once it is normalized, it takes on a life of its own. Does anybody believe that those being summarily executed have been actually* proven* to be Daesh, one and all? And it won't stop with just young, fighting age (Sunni) men. Older men and teens will be given the same treatment. Women will be raped. Then will come mass ethnic cleansing. In fact, it seems to be already happening. This is all of what people like Cockburn are supporting. What's so disgusting is that he and his type aren't really opposed to US imperialism. After all, that government is an ally (in part) of US imperialism, just as are the Kurds in Syria. No, the reality is that they're pro Russian and Iranian imperialism. Nor are they even opposed to atrocities; they're just opposed to atrocities carried out against the imperialist forces they - the Cockburns of the world - support. How did Cockburn track down this man? Did he go off on a stroll in "liberated" Mosul talking to people in Arabic until he bumped into Saleem Mohammed? Isn't it obvious that an embedded journalist like Cockburn was introduced to this informant by the Iraqi military itself?
