I believe the site forgot to mention the primary value of astroids will be as
material we do not have to launch into space. The metals and anything with
water will have a great value for use in space construction, but the
achondrites that lack metal with have little value in space construction.
Looking into the crystal pallasite ball, in the year 2025, I see
achondrite fragments at $1.00 per gram! However, they will lack the
beautiful fusion crust of our meteorites. Besides, due to the UN Universal
Museum Convention of 2035, all of our meteorites will be confiscated as

Hello Bob, All,
Metal protrusions like that are common on cleaned irons. They are
usually slivers of fresh metal formerly surrounded by oxide that are
exposed via cleaning.
Since we have no evidence that Baygorria is or ever was actually
distinct from Campo del Cielo, I wouldn't be so bold as to
Hello Listers
Ever wonder how much an asteroid would yield in profit, gold, platinum, o2,
hydrogen? Well a website called http://www.asterank.com/ has done that.
There are over 600,000 asteroids and counting that are listed on the website,
where one can categorize in value, profit, or accessibi
MikeG,
Thanks for the heads-up about this latest update.
Haven't seen anything mentioned, yet, so I'd like to give a tip-of-the-hat to a
local meteorite-hunter, Jim Wooddell (and his wife Wendy), for getting 2 of his
finds into the MetBull:
Yucca 016 and Yucca 017
Not only has Jim's finds exte

Hi Bob and List,
I've ordered eight Cheylabinsk individuals from three eBay sellers over a week
ago. Got payment confirmation and thanks from one seller. No meteorite as of
today and I have yet to receive anything from the others.
A collector on IMCA has received one meteorite that was offered
Sounds like classic "bait and switch" to me. If it happens once, it could
just be a mistake. If it happens a second time, maybe the guy is forgetful.
But if it happens more than twice with the same specimen, it's fraud. You
should tell us who the dealer is so we can all watch out for this from t
Well I see a bunch of List Members are getting anxious and venturing the
unknown and taking risks and purchasing these eBay listed Chelyabinsk
meteorites. Some how I feel still reluctant to do that especially when the
price per gram has not been set based on these being mostly auction style

Hi everyone,
Now that it's been a few weeks since the fall of the Russian
meteorite, I was curious when we might see pieces of the new fall
offered on the metlist. Are you guys waiting for your shipments to
arrive from Russia? And speaking of that, how reliable is the Russian
post?
Thanks!
Bob
Graham,
Nice stone. Looks like it has it got those reddish/bronze patches on
parts of the fusion crust. Are these all over or just on one side? I
was under the impression that these are formed when the trailing side
of a meteorite has a lower supply of oxygen and the crust forms a
different colour

A prominent fireball was seen across the Great Lakes area last night,
to include a smoke trail and large detonation. We have located the event site
in radar, seismometer, and eyewitness accounts, and radar indicates a strong
possibility that meteorites may be fou

This is not the best photo, but one I took at home with Andrey's pen.
I asked him if he would send it to me as a souvenir of his listing. Maybe I'll
take another later with my good camera which is at work. It is small but very
pretty.
