Hi list !
Does anybody have detailed information of the
Amargosa meteorite ? It is not listed in the Cat.o.Meteorites 5th Ed.
Why ?
I only found it in http://epswww.unm.edu/iom/meteoritecatalog.htm
Does it have a synomym ?
Greetings,
Christian
Hi there!
I think that the fine white crystals you see are sulphate efflorescences
that are on all specimens of Orgueil and are caused by terrestriallisation
ie reaction of moisture with various compounds within the matrix.
See Gounelle Zolensky, A terrestrial origin for sulfate veins in CI1

Hi Ron, all -
Most fascinating to read the comments on the formation
of olivine, particularly as it relates to parent body
size(s).
Pressure seems to be the key. It strikes me that
there would have been at least 2 sources of pressure -
one, gravity; and two, the cooled outer crust pressing

All,
Regarding the IMCA and eBay, I think that only positive messages should be
used. Something like, Member in good standing of the IMCA. All material
sold is 100% guaranteed to be genuine. Then include the logo.
Simple as that. Anyone who looks around eBay should notice this logo and

What you might want to do is find one of the many references that explains
how to tell a meteorite from a meteorwrong, go down the list, and check
off all that apply (i.e., meteorites are magnetic to varying degrees.
Shale is not.) Submit the list to the insurance company. You might also

Hi everyone,
This email covers a few things that have been discussed the past few days

First of all, thanks to everyone who saw the discussions and decided to

What now would be really nice

Fate and luck please let it be:
Jeannie,
The material you bought could be oxidized Canyon Diablo material collected
on the surface just outside the canyon rim. H. H. Nininger used some of
this in some copies of his little booklet, A Comet Strikes The Earth.
This may or may not be what you have, but you might have someone
