Re: [mobile-society] Readings for undergrads / mobile technology

2016-03-15 Thread Lee M. Humphreys
I’m teaching a mobile communication in public life class this semester. Here’s
a link to the syllabus if that’s any help:
https://blogs.cornell.edu/humphreys/files/2016/02/Syllabus2016-tbl2p1.pdf

I am using Jonathan Donner’s After Access book, but then lots of single
chapters and Mobile Media and Communication articles. The field is growing so I
had a hard time finding one “recent” text book. Would love to know what you end
up using.

Good luck!

Lee

I'm currently prepping a new class for Fall 2016. Title - "Media Technology
& Society," an undergrad class for our Media Studies majors.

The focus of the class is not entirely on mobile, but that will be approx a
third of the semester (other two big areas of tech I want to cover are
print & radio).

Looking for suggestions for a good, general overview textbook on mobile
technology, emphasis on phones...something definitely aimed at undergrads.
I like Mobile Communication (by Ling and Donner), but it's published 2009.
That book might work, but I'm really hoping to find something along these
same lines published in the past 2-3 years.

thanks in advance - Noah
