check out the occurrence maps on moumn.org . It shows that RBNU's are found

state during the non-breeding months.

A friend in south Minneapolis found a dead adult Coopers in his yard. He
saw it hopping around in the backyard earlier this morning. Anyone
interested in doing a necropsy? or the specimen?

Wood Ducks: We saw our first group of 5 that we believed jumped from one of
our boxes this morning. Each of the boxes should have had more eggs than
that.

filled the feeder above the house
and looked in. This week nothing was stirring, but I did not peek in. A hen
spooked out of the other house when I walked by, so I took the liberty to
count her 15 warm eggs in the nest. She was back minutes after I left the
yard.

for the
afternoon birding. Moderate effort- some walking on trails. Our field trips
are free and open to anyone, although all adults who participate must be
vaccinated. No reservations needed, just show up. This traditional spring
warbler field trip has a tradition of well over 30 years!

Pennsylvania Sedge in bloom.
I had gray treefrogs singing. Interesting as about 90% of our treefrogs are
cope's gray treefrogs, but they start singing later in the season. In a few
days I expect as the gray treefrogs peak, they will be almost drowned out
by the cope's.
