Karen Colson at the Northwest Angle of Lake of the Woods observed a ibis in
a ditch along LOW CR 49 on 4-26 and someone reported seeing it for a week
or more. Is this global warming??!!??

On the way from my car to the office this morning (Yes, I work on Saturdays
now) I heard an odd bird song and I had to figure out what it was. So I
searched as I continued to listen. I was a bit surprised to find a Robin.
Several things were odd about this bird's song:
1) The song bits were
Birded at Brighton Beach this morning, and had my first-of-the-year Greater
Yellowlegs, Killdeer and Eastern Phoebe! Red-necked Grebes continue to be
seen in impressive numbers. Two pictures from this morning, as well as an
eBird list below.

There was an EARED GREBE at the Old Cedar Ave Bridge this morning, visible from
the boardwalk. It was roughly in line with the two distant power poles to the
right of the power plant, diving frequently.
There are still four RED-NECKED GREBES at Ft. Snelling State Park, on Snelling
Lake.

4 white-faced ibis in Meeker
At 12:15 there was an adult White-faced Ibis near St. Peter. It was along Hwy.
99, 6/10ths of a mile west of county road 40, on the north side of the road,
feeding in the flooded ditch.

Kelly Applegate had a resident Chimney Swift return to his yard in
Princeton today, he also said 2 Barn Swallows flew over, a little early
for both species.

Both at Purgatory Creek, standing on stumps in the middle of the pond. Also
present are a lone Red-necked and 19 Horned Grebes snd a few loons.

At about 3PM, two Willets circled and called over the creek/lake and finally
settled into shallow water near a raft of Buffs.
Also Red necked grebe and the other two Grebes-- couldn't find an Eared.

The flock of 9 White-faced Ibis' has turned out to be 8 white-faced Ibis
and 1 Glossy Ibis. The flock finally came very close for viewing with great
light this morning. We confirmed that the bird had a dark iris. Photos will
be posted hopefully tonight.

Migration finally hitting. 13 new year birds last two days. Waterfowl fully
here. Sparrows arriving (10 in Sherburne/Mille Lacs area today), although

Shorebirds very light. Only one species of warbler and one of
