8 Red Crossbills at Hanley Falls reported by Barb and Denny Martin yesterday.

While leading a MRVAC field trip today, we were able to relocate some birds of
note and found a few of our own. Here were the species of note observed:
King Rail – Our group observed a juvenile and adult at the previously reported
location at the North Ottawa Impoundment in
Paul Egland, Esther Gesick and I spent a frustrating day looking for Red
Crossbills in various parts of Renville, Yellow Medicine, Lac Qui Parle and Big
Stone counties. We finally located three Red Crossbills at the west Hanley
Falls cemetery. We were unable to locate any other Red Crossbills

Miriam and I birded Carver County yesterday and found
the main New Germany wetland flooded. Shorebirds here
today, gone tomorrow. Because we were close, decided to
stop by the Tacoma wetlands south of Mayer, fully expecting
them to
