For testing notifications i use the Nagios interface(from browser): click on a
host or service and in the right side of the screen you have Send custom
service notification, or Send custom host notification, depending on what
you clicked(service/host). Don't forget to add some characters

i spent a week debugging this and ... i still can't see the light from the end
of the tunnel :), so i'm posting here, hoping someone can see what i'm doing
wrong.
Nagios works perfect at sending e-mail alerts, Gnokii also works perfect when i
type the commands in the console.

Yes, run as the nagios user. You can see that the eventhandler script
also invokes

Have you tried to use your gnokii command as the nagios user?
Does the nagios user have enough rights to access the serial port that is
configured with gnokii?

inspired by David Josephsen's book to try to integrate nagios with
nagiosgraph and drraw.
I have it all working on a test server *except* that I cannot link the
