I log on, then disconnect, then attempt to connect again, Genesis
dials, communicates with my ISP (UKOnline), but freezes just before
completing the connection.

Sorry guys, slightly misquoted the problem. The second time, Genesis
doesn't dial out, it just says "dialing... attempt 1/15" and hangs.
Guess that rules out ISP problems.
Could it be that after you log off you load some other program which
nabs all the chip ram then when you load Genesis
