Hello,
I was just about to send my book to press when I noticed the '£' appears
in my PDF as an italic dollar sign.
I looked it up in the archive and google. Have tried \pound and

It's very strange, when I output the chapter's product separately from
Hi,
I have page numbers and chapter headings displayed in my document's

therefore I want a footer on these pages to display the page number.
The footer should disabled on all other pages.

How do I set the whitespace around a float? I've read the manual and
searched the mailing list archive and wiki but couldn't find what I

For example, how do you set the white space around a float to 1cm? Is

Hi,
When using columnsets is it possible to have footnotes placed at the

Hi Peter,
Thanks for your reply. I think I may have misunderstood the variable
section on the wiki. I been using \setvariable to both declare and
assign variables from my component files. When I should have been
declaring them in the environment file first, right?
Thanks for all the suggestions. I used Taco's method but I'll try some
of the others as well.

I found that my text, which is set in two columns, looks better with

By all means break the rules, and break them beautifully,
deliberately, and well. That is one of the ends for which they exist.
