I use MetaFun to create a figure and embed it using \processMPbuffer[].
for example,
\startbuffer[test]
draw fullcircle scaled 3cm;
\stopbuffer
\starttext
\placefigure[][]{}
\processMPbuffer[test]
\stoptext
But sometimes, I need to rescaling the mp figure to fit the page
:
Something terrible must be done to png pictures, either in ConTeXt or in
luatex.
I have the following minimal sample code and picture. I include the png for
those who want to check.
% Test png addition.
\starttext
Place png figure.\par
\placefigure{Test figure}{\externalfigure[test.png
.
Example usage:
\defineselector[caption][max=2,n=2]
\starttext
\setupselector[caption][n=1]
\completelistoffigures
\setupselector[caption][n=2]
\placefigure[][]
{\select{caption}
{A short caption}
{A rather longer caption which will appear below the figure itself
/20060501.171706.24b88466.en.html .
Example usage:
\defineselector[caption][max=2,n=2]
\starttext
\setupselector[caption][n=1]
\completelistoffigures
\setupselector[caption][n=2]
\placefigure[][]
{\select{caption}
{A short caption}
{A rather longer caption which will appear below the figure itself
.
Example usage:
\defineselector[caption][max=2,n=2]
\starttext
\setupselector[caption][n=1]
\completelistoffigures
\setupselector[caption][n=2]
\placefigure[][]
{\select{caption}
{A short caption}
{A rather longer caption which will appear below the figure itself
://archive.contextgarden.net/message/20060501.171706.24b88466.en.html .
Example usage:
\defineselector[caption][max=2,n=2]
\starttext
\setupselector[caption][n=1]
\completelistoffigures
\setupselector[caption][n=2]
\placefigure[][]
{\select{caption}
{A short caption}
{A rather longer
\placefigure{Test figure}{\externalfigure[test.png]}
\stoptext
Without the png-picture it makes an 8KB pdf.
But with the png-picture the pdf swells to 1.8MB.
And that for a png-picture of only 48KB.
Moreover making a zip of all this stuff brought the size back to 110KB.

Hello Hans,
quick hack:
\placefigure[split,fixed,none]{}{...}
currently only the the float related splitter will check the available space,
so in your case you have a regular flush with skips between the rows and a
header/footer only
Works fine, thanks!
Patrick
Hi,
One can select between short and long figure captions
(for an index of figures and the figure display itself, respectively)
using a selector. The syntax is:
\defineselector [caption] [max=2,n=2] % alternate {short}{long} captions
\starttext
\placefigure [here] [fig:reference
\placefigure [here] [fig:reference]
{\select{caption}
{short caption}
{long caption: bla, bla, bla.}
}
{\externalfigure [myfigure]}
\startchapter [title={Figure index}]
\setupselector [caption] [n=1]
\placelistoffigures [criterium=all
][width=\overlaywidth,height=\overlayheight]}]
\starttext
\noheaderandfooterlines
\setupbackgrounds[page][background=backg]
%\placefigure
%{none}
%{\externalfigure[hexagon.0][width=12cm]}
\stoptext
Thanks in advance
Syed
):
=
\defineoverlay
[backg]
[{\externalfigure[hexagon.0][width=\overlaywidth,height=\overlayheight]}]
\starttext
\noheaderandfooterlines
\setupbackgrounds[page][background=backg]
%\placefigure
%{none}
%{\externalfigure[hexagon.0][width=12cm]}
\stoptext
With ConTeXt
\vrule height 7cm \stopxcell
\startxcell x \stopxcell
\stopxrow
\startxrow
\startxcell \vrule height 7cm \stopxcell
\startxcell x \stopxcell
\stopxrow
\stopxtablebody
\stopxtable
\stoptext
quick hack:
\placefigure[split,fixed,none]{}{...}
currently only the the float related splitter
Hi all,
I'm not sure if this was introduced with the latest beta, but I just realized
that the referencing numbers not right.
\starttext

\placefigure[here][fig:a]{}{}
\in{Figure}[fig:b] % should be 1.2
