[NTG-context] symb-was?

2011-02-07 Thread Hans van der Meer
In mkii I used the module sym-was. In the current distribution there is the
file:
./tex/texmf-context/tex/context/base/symb-was.mkii
but not a corresponding mkiv variant, as is the case for the other symb-files
in that directory.

Could it be this file is missing? Or are the wasy symbols now coming in other
way?

Dear Otared,

Am Freitag, den 04.02.2011, 20:45 +0100 schrieb Otared Kavian:

 I think one should use \overline instead of \overbar in your example. For me
 the following works fine with mkiv:
   \starttext
\startformula
\overline{q} = \frac{\overline{q}}{\overline{α_0}}
\stopformula
In text $\overline{q} = \frac{\overline{q}}{\overline{α_0}}$.
\startformula
\overline{q_0} = \frac{\overline{q}}{\overline α}
\stopformula
\stoptext
 (one gets as expected the « conjugate » of α_0, for instance).

thank you for your answer. `\overline` works as you say, but it looks
typographically different in the respect that the bar is closer to the
letter, which of course solves the issue for the inline fraction. For α
this looks quite strange in my eyes. But I do not know a lot about
typography.

Please find the PDF-output attached with the following ConTeXt version.

IIRC, \overline is meant for long entities, like \overline{(a+b)}. For
single letters, it is better to use the accent \bar.

indeed no symb-was.mkiv; best use symb-mvs in mkiv

[NTG-context] Topic-list not becoming active

2011-02-07 Thread Hans van der Meer
In the spirit of the presentationstyle s-pre-02 I meticulously copied the
relevant statements into my module but the Topics-list is not becoming active.
That is, the list of Topic-sheets appears but clicking on them does not bring
one to the destination. Nor do the list items get the color given on the
\setupinteraction macro.

Of course I tried the same with the unmodified s-pre-02 style, but got the same
negative result.

Is here something changed from mkii-mkiv? Things like buttons for jumping to
the next page or to a specific page are still working. It is as if the
generated list of Topic's does not contain active items.

I have prepared a small example. It shows on the second page uncolored Topic's
ABC, PQR and XYZ. They should have been green (the OrnamentColor) and are not
active.

\usemodule[s-pre-02]
\setuppapersize [S6][S6]
\setupinteractionscreen[option=max,width=\paperwidth,height=\paperheight]
\starttext
\TitlePage{
\vfill\vfill\bf
College
\vfill\vfill\vfill\bfxx
\currentdate\hfill\null}
\par
\Topics {ONDERWERPEN}
\par
\Topic{ABC}abc\par
\Topic{PQR}pcr\par
\Topic{XYZ}xyz\par
\stoptext

[NTG-context] \tfx and \tf having the same size

Hello,

I have noticed that \tfx and \tf yield the same size. For example in the
sample below:

\tfxx A\tfx A\tf A\tfa A\tfb A\tfc A\tfd A

However, the documentation states that tfx should be 0.8 size of tf.

[NTG-context] structuring Context code using \input statements.

2011-02-07 Thread John Culleton
In all forms of TeX it is my custom to start with a brief main file and
call the various components of the document into the input stream with
\input statements. The termination of the document is in the main file
with a \stoptext statement.

This works well with pdftex documents and also with
MKII documents. But it fails with MKIV documents. The Context program
will read and use an inserted program but will not return to the main
text stream in the file that did the inputting. It just displays an *
and hangs. Are there new rules in MKIV about breaking up a document
into separate files and inserting these in sequence via \input
statements?

The check broke other globbing (e.g. wildcard) and is not robust so I
removed it; I need more info about why/where it fails at your end.
