is it the very same Northern Wheatear that just left Stratford,
Connecticut? Also, on Martha's Vineyard (Massachusetts),
a Say's Phoebe was
Caught up on some birding the last 2 days. Sunday I spent 2.5 hours at Plumb
Beach (6:45 -9:15). Only real highlights were an imm. American Golden Plover
and an early Horned Grebe.
With the NW winds overnight Sunday into Monday I was anticipating a good
passerine flight and I was not
A Clay-colored Sparrow was discovered on the west side of the RMSP
Field 2 picnic area this morning, where it was observed feeding on the
panic grass with a White-throated Sparrow (FOS for us) and Song
Sparrows. Other birds observed included Warbling, Red-eyed, and White-
eyed Vireo's, as
Late yesterday afternoon an adult Red-shouldered Hawk was seen soaring
low over the Shoreham/Wading R. area (near the Cooper Av sod fields),
slowly drifting eastward in light NW winds. Otherwise, signs of
migration were light, with a few warbler species locally and a small
movement of flickers
If the Northern Wheatear that's been in Stratford, Connecticut's
Sikorsky Airport since at least 5 September (& a bit belatedly
reported there for Monday, 14 Sept.) stays on thru this coming
weekend, it will be extremely unusual, in that by then a much more
obvious cold front is due to
