A trip to Erie shore in Chautauqua Co today (18 January) with Bill Watson
was highlighted by 2 ad. Little Gulls amongst 450 Bonaparte's at Barcelona
Harbor on Lake Erie. One bird spent a large amount of time foraging point
blank off of the west side of the main parking lot/pier, while the second

observed many ring-billed gulls out on the open water, a few great black-backed
gulls, several mallards, and several common mergansers. The mergansers were not
as plentiful as last week, when I had seen large rafts
A While back someone posted a youtube video of a crow snow sledding. I
mailed it to a friend in England and he responded with Ravens sliding in t
he snow pictures

Garden feeding along the side of the path in the Ross Conifer Arboretum.

The birds sure keep popping up in the area I work in New Rochelle. At 4pm
today I had three Common Ravens cavorting about 150 feet above the building I
work at heading more or less west to east. Once again the location is 10
Commerce Dr. I wonder what next will show up!

This morning, Wed. January 18th, I watched a 2yr old Bald Eagle flying north at
the confluence of the Hudson River and Catskill Creek. I followed the bird's
flight from Dutchman's Landing Park when I was surprised to see it join 3 other
Bald Eagles on an ice floe that was beached on the sand
As of noon today Wed. Jan. 18 2012 the Greater White-fronted Goose was
on the pond at Gerry Park in Roslyn, NY. The goose could be viewed
from the parking lot in the park itself or the municipal lot on Old
Northern Blvd. in downtown Roslyn. The goose was in the Northwest
corner of the pond. Also
After our Jan. 14th pelagic out of Freeport was weathered out, I asked the
captain if we could tentatively re-schedule the trip for Jan. 28 and he
said yes. With those people from the cancelled trip who have already said
"yes", we need about another dozen or so to make the trip sail.
We did get
The Dickcissel was still present at 9:15am this morning with the House
Sparrow flock at the SW-most ball-field.
Also had a bit of raptor show with fly-over Bald Eagle, Peregrine and 3
Red-tailed Hawks.

I received a text from Doug Gochfeld this morning that he was looking at an
adult Bald Eagle in Brooklyn's Prospect Park. The bird was circling Prospect
Lake. I rushed into the park, but by the time I got to the lake it was nowhere
to be found. After about a 35
