Just had a female Harlequin swimming at the base of Fort Wadsworth. Only visible from the bluffs of Von Briesen Park and looking down onto fort and pilings. Last seen swimming towards the bridge and around side of fort. This is a small park at the corner of school road and Bay Street. Isaac

Glad to hear these geese are still around! As Tim and Doug speculate this is indeed the non-stained Ross’s that was found in Massapequa on 1/9. This bird, along with the two White fronts, have been ranging as far north as the LIE along Pinelawn Avenue. As Shai Mitra mentioned in his post from

On a wide ranging day of birding yesterday I visited Southard Town Park for the Dickcissel which obliged by sitting on the fencing around the tennis courts. I then headed to Montauk and along the east jetty to Montauk Harbor had both the Glaucous and Iceland gull. Also had remarkably close-up
