Saw interesting Black Vulture behavior just now. Four were sitting on the
chimneys of a house across from mine warming up in this cold. I had never seen
animals of any kind doing this. Just shows how smart they are. They were only
on ones with smoke coming out. Cool stuff.

While passing by Edgemont H.S. I noticed a Black Vulture low over the school.
I have seen a pair of them fairly regularly in the vicinity over the last few
years so they must be breeding somewhere nearby. I would love to find the
nest. Very cool.

We observed an interesting movement of 19 Black Vultures at Rockefeller
State Park Preserve this morning on Saw Mill River Audubon's 2nd Mon bird
walk there.
Twelve drifting together north and 7 others seen around the Swan Lake
area.

Sorry for the delay in posting, but life intruded. As I was getting into my
car to run errands I looked up and had a Black Vulture soaring almost
directly above my yard which is in Uniondale. The vulture then slowly
drifted in a northeast direction towards the coliseum complex.

The black vulture was found roosting on the roof of the house opposite
the church at the corner of Rte 58 and Church Lane in Riverhead this
morning around 8:15. It was associating with about a dozen TVs.

I did some chasing today and got to see two nice birds. :> ) The Black
Vulture was at the Braddock Bay west spit, Monroe County. The bird came in
and landed in the trees right next to the end of the road but we never saw
it go to one of the two deer carcasses nearby. It looked fairly healthy,
