Hi,
Here in East Chatham, we've had one pine Siskin for 2 days,4/26 and
4/27,feeding with purple finches and juncos beneath a black oil sunflower
feeder. Rose breasted grosbeak males showed up 4/26.
An interesting overlap.

Apologies to the list for the location confusion. Peter's map (below) is the
correct spot.

I have had a single pine Siskin at thistle feeder (in Ossining) most of this
afternoon. Hadn't had one since a flurry for 3-4 days in late fall.

Our resident great horned owl had two owlets this year and was faced raising
them as a single mother. Her mate, Junior, and Rose, the Red tailed hawk, both
went missing at the same time a few months ago. Perhaps they had a final deadly
altercation after numerous confrontations. No one knows for
A few more shots of the Say's Phoebe in Prospect Park are below. It was an
incredibly easy twitch - even a three-year-old could do it! (And did, as my
son, Desi, followed up last weekend's Ruff with the phoebe this weekend.)

Location question. The location was described as the north end of the meadow
leading to the peninsula. The map referenced by Arie Gilbert shows a point on
the other side of the lake, southwest of the skating rink, quite far away from
the peninsula.
Which is correct?

Currently seen in previously reported area. Midway up the ridge near large
fallen tree that crosses over the trail that goes up the ridge. Actively
feeding and moving about.

I've embedded the location in the photos. You have to zoom in (2) layers to
see it (just hover over the map). Seen just off of Wellhouse Dr at the edge
of the Peninsula.
The Yellow-throated Warbler is still here in Inwood foraging just uphill from
where Nadir described. Seems to be making a 20-30min loop of the hillside. So
hangout and watch the trees to see him as he's no longer singing.
Thanks,

I found the Red-headed Woodpecker in the grass along the northern end of Bay
parkway, about 1/3 of the way between the Field 10 fishing piers and the
Meadowbrook turnoff at about 7:45. It flew slightly east along the median, and
others saw it in the median actively feeding / flying shortly
There is a likely SAY'S PHOEBE on the north side of the Peninsula meadow in
Prospect Park, Brooklyn.
Overall drab bird with faint salmony undertail coverts and belly. Black
undertail with no rufous.
Watching with multiple observers.

I just found and am currently listening to a Yellow-throated Warbler in Inwood

Walk to the south east corner of the soccer field to enter the woods. Take the

After following the noise of the constantly calling MERLINS, I was easily able
to find their nest at the top of a White Pine across the street in the
neighbors yard. Welcome to the neighborhood!! Looks like it may be a long
summer for my feeder birds. Just remember guys..the black birds
I just watched a pair of MERLINS copulate in a tree across the street from my
house. Twice. The female is still there at this moment, while the male flew
off after the second copulation. There are plenty of large White Pines in my
yard and in the patch of woods across the street, so I am
