There are some rare-for-the county and VERY-rare sightings that were made
by/with the ‘TeamSapsucker' group of expert observers in Manhattan on Saturday,
and some of those may be commented on at a later

Today was an improvement over yesterday in terms of both the weather and
numbers of birds, but still slow for mid-May. The best spot for us today was
the Point.
Highlights in taxonomic order:
Has anyone been by Ketchum’s Creek, Suffolk County, to check up on the
previously reported Mottled Duck lately? Any info, positive or negative
results?

WOW! The nest has been there since April 8th? This is a great news. Thanks for
sharing this, Andrew. I guess great minds think alike. LOL.
And sorry I forgot totally about the off-leash dogs. I wish the birding
community will do more about this problem, not only in Bush Terminal but all
over

Also, that we now know that Osprey can nest there if we stop people from
getting closer to the nest, there must be something can be done to prevent
people from going over the rocks during low tides, like blocking the last 200
feet of the pier during the nesting

Friday May 13th - for Manhattan and New York County (and the much-broader
region of multiple states, including at least eastern NY state and, in
I so often went in the fall and winter - decided to better my numbers with a
spring visit. Perhaps missed many of the warblers, but one of the last birds I
got for this morning was a Summer Tanager, singing away among the tree-lined
path behind Icahn Stadium towards the northern end by the
