This afternoon drove over to Jones Beach West End. There's an adult white morph snow goose foraging with a small group of Canada Geese in front of the NYS Park Police Station. At the Coast Guard station there was a Horned Grebe rather close to the dock and just to the east of the sand spit

I stood around the Maintenance restroom area for more than two hours yesterday (I just returned from Antarctica, so I guess the weather seemed routine) and did not see the Varied Thrush. Nor had any of the other birders who came by and had been looking for it. There was a Cooper's Hawk hanging
